The spread of the Ebola virus causes great concern and requires prompt action, which is why a group of Cuban specialists will travel to Nicaragua to support staff training and definition of security protocols to the threat of the deadly disease.

While Cubans support the prevention plan against threatening illness the Panamerican Health Organization (PAHO) announced it will donate 500 biosecurity protection systems for workers’ health to avoid direct contact with any patients with the virus in Nicaragua.

The PAHO representative in Nicaragua, Socorro Gross, said the agency has delivered equipment to transport samples to two laboratories designated for suspected cases in the Americas.

The United States ambassador in Managua, Phyllis Powers, said for his part that is awaiting the decision of the Department of State on the application of health cooperation of Nicaragua.
