On Tuesday, Mexican authorities reported the murder of Leonel Gámez Céspedes, president of Yoruba Cultural Society of Cuba in Mexico. The incident occurred at his home in Mexico City.

Gómez Céspedes offered spiritual advice to artistic and political figures such as people with high purchasing power who came to help. The incident occurred when two men came to his home with an offering of fruit.

Inside the housing, he was preparing an altar to meet with some of his followers. However, as the subjects saw, they shot him and one of his aides, who tried to prevent the attack. Dead religious leader and his wounded assistant, the assailants took to the streets and fled without anyone managed to stop them.

In the house were some boxes with valuables, so the authorities ruled that the attack wasn’t an attempted robbery. In addition, the religious had in his pants 3,000 pesos in cash.
