A small earthquake off Cuba was felt in the lower Keys.

The 4.7 magnitude quake, at depth of 6 miles, occurred about 31 miles ENE of Cárdenas, Matanzas, Cuba, according to the USGS National Earthquake Information Center.

Last month, a 4.3  magnitude earthquake struck just off Cuba’s northeast coast. In January, a magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck 24 miles north of Corralillo, Cuba, or about 112 miles east of Havana.

The earthquake was reportedly 12.4 miles below the earth’s surface. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection said no known earthquake has ever had its epicenter beneath Florida, although several have been felt across the state.

There are no reports of injuries or damage.

Judith McCabe-Arthur in Summerland Key said her home shook for seven to ten seconds.
