The Economy and Planning Minister, Adel Izquierdo, reported the parliament today that its is estimated a 2.7 percent growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the present year, lower than 3.6 planned.

When addressing the National Assembly of the People's Power the minister assured that such situation was due to the failure to comply with the income in free convertible currency in one year that, he considered complicated to receive timely.
 
Izquierdo referred to income export revenues that should have to be done and added that, although in most of the activities experienced growth there were others with failure.
 
According to the minister, among the factors that determined that the growth of the GDP is not reached are included the failure in construction activities and the manufacturing industry.
 
Pointing out the institutions with most significant concentration of breaches he noted that among the main causes are the fact of bringing of industries and technological equipments to a halt due to the lack of maintenance and breaking of contracts.
 
He explained that the Plan of the Year is not met but grows if compare to the previous year and regarding the trade balance of goods and services is expected to conclude 2013 with a positive balance of 1256.250 thousand dollars.
 
Regarding the sectors that do not meet the exports line he mentioned the nickel and Tourism, among others.
 
He stressed that food import grew to 1.743 billion dollars, lower than expected in 203 millions and added that such decrease is due to the net effect caused by prices, as they bought through intermediaries with high prices and has been placed in other markets.
