Cuba honors today the Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez, at Casa de las Americas, with an exhibition about his characters and a panel on his relationship with the Caribbean.

The initiative will remember the 31st anniversary of the delivery to "Gabo" of the Nobel Prize for Literature, and the Casa election is because the narrator has been jury that sponsors this institution.

It includes multiple characters from his vast work, from "Melquiades," "Remedios la Bella" (Remedios the Beauty), "Mama Grande" (Big Mama) to a Colonel to whom no one writes, whose entrails stings a red rooster.

In turn, the exhibition "Gabriel Garcia Marquez and the Caribbean" brings together in 16 screens photos, text, and graphic traces of the closeness of the author of "Cien años de soledad" (One Hundred Years of Solitude) in the Caribbean area.

Such relationship will be also discussed in depth in a panel of academics, made up of Conrado Zuluaga (Colombia) and Luisa Campusano (Cuba), which analyzes the influences of the also teacher of journalists.
