The bartender Pedro Tejeda was selected as Cuba's representative at Habanosommelier XII International Competition to be held in the capital later this month, as part of the XV Habano Festival, according to official sources.

Considered one of the most attractive events, the Habanosommelier competition tests participants in their best knowledge and skills about the combination of Cuban cigars, food and beverages.

Tejeda is a barman in La Bodeguita del Medio, one of the most emblematic Cuban restaurants, located in Old Havana, one block from the Cathedral Square, significant since the sixteenth century.

The national competition took place on Thursday at the Occidental Miramar Hotel, where the selected competitor won by a large majority of the jury.

Nationally, there were 68 contestants who were eliminated at different levels of the competition, said Commercial vice president of Habanos S.A., Jorge Luis Fernandez Maique, who also recognized the quality and qualification of the contestants.
