Cuban swimming athletes Hanser García, Alex Hernández and Armando Barrera will compete in the World Cup in short course swimming pool that will be in Istanbul, Turkey.

García, an Olympic finalist in 100 free meters; Hernández, a specialist in the butterfly style; and Barrera in backstroke, will compete in the Lusitanian capital from December 12 until next December 16, said the Cuban News Agency (AIN) Tuesday.

The "Chicken", just as García is nicknamed, will compete in 50 and 100 free meters, Hernández will try to reduce its times in the 50 and 100 butterfly, while Barrera will do in the 200 backstroke, his first international competition.

Present Cuban National Rowing Commissioner and former Swimming Commissioner, Rodolfo Falcón, made sure that the swimmers will come to the event ready to acquire experience before rivals of major importance and possibly their rivals in the long swimming pool World Cup next July in Barcelona.

Cuba has won nine medals in the history of the world cups in short swimming pool, six gold, one silver and two bronze.
