Cuba organized the first festival dedicated to migratory birds, which will be a meeting for ornithologists and nature lovers in western Guanahacabibes peninsula, during October.

  Residents of the region and Cuban and U.S. experts will attend the festival, intended to disclose the characteristics of the area, which is home to over 200 species of birds, both resident and travelers, Dr. Alina Perez Sciences, one of the organizers, told Prensa Latina.

She said the event, scheduled for the second half of October, will include visits to sites where experts monitor the presence of prey, from North America, and other visitors.

Regarding the participation of foreign researchers, she said that these are professionals belonging to Gulf Coast Bird Observatory, located in the state of Texas.

The festival coincides with the fall migration, the largest one, according to records obtained in the region, she added.
