Digna Guerra, director of the Cuban National Chorus, visited Portsmouth on May
7, to direct Voices from the Heart at South Church. Voices sang "El Bodeguero,"
a Cuban piece under the direction of Guerra.

Guerra is visiting Joanne Connolly, director of Voices to set up an exchange
between the two choruses. Connolly travelled to Havana in March to begin the
exchange, travelling to Havana and Cinefuegos to set up the Voices upcoming tour
in June and July. On June 30, 110 members of "Voices" will travel to Cuba to
sing with Guerra and her chorus and participate in an international choral
festival with groups arriving in Havana from around the world.

Voices from the Heart is a 200-voiced women's alternative chorus located in
Portsmouth. The chorus sings a mix of music from many cultural and musical
traditions. Women of all ages and all walks of life attend weekly rehearsals at
South Church in Portsmouth. Women come from New Hampshire, Maine, and
Massachusetts to sing and to share the joy that comes from making music
together.
