Havana City Historian Eusebio Leal , informed the United Nations chairmaship about the course the social work developed in the Historic Center in the Cuban capital.

The also United Nations Goodwill Ambassador visited last Wednesday the world organization´s headquarters in New York and had a courtesy meeting with United Nations general secretary, Ban Ki-moon. Leal also met Susana Malcorra, United Nation director´s cabinet chief and director of the Department to support ongoing actions to whom he explained advances in Havana´s Historic Center and its impact in its inhabitants.

The relevant Cuban intellectual traveled to that city as per invitation of the famous New York Public Library where he offered a masterly conference on May 15.

His conference dealt with the progress of the restoration program he directs in the Caribbean island capital´s historic center, declared Humankind Heritage in 1982.

In declarations to Prensa Latina news agency, Leal highlighted that there he was able to watch maps and documents of Cuba which are part the New York institution´s wealth treasured in the building located in Manhattan.

Other places he visited in New York, were the Guggenheim, Metropolitan and the Modern Arts (MOMA) Museums.

He also went to the Americas Society and to the Saint Patrick Cathedral where he had contacts with their respective authorities and personalities.
