A Cuban delegation will attend next May in South Korea the 35 Congress of the World Association of Chefs'' Societies (WACS), said today professional sources.

President of the Federation of Culinary Associations of the Republic of Cuba (Facrc), Eddy Fernandez added that he will lead this delegation along with the Senior Vice President Alberto Guerra.

The WACS is composed of about 10 million chefs from 92 countries and the congress will take place from May 1 to 5 in the city of Daejeon.

The Cuban delegation will present the progress and development of culinary specialties, facing an upward spiral in the tourism industry in the country.

Cuba will present its experiences, knowledge and development, considering that it is the second oldest in America in that organization after the United States (14 members), and one of the most represented on the continent, the source insisted.

The meeting will be attended by over two thousand chefs, making it especially for Cuba, a special opportunity to exchange experiences, learn about different markets and trends.

The conference will include discussions on the prospects and possible solutions to food problems on the planet, the statutes of the institution for the next four years, and the presence and stimulation to a greater incorporation of women in culinary societies.

The list of topics also includes policies to develop healthier foods and malnutrition, and initiatives to mitigate the situation of hunger in the world, mainly in African nations, the source said.
