Between 5 and March 8 will be taking place in the Cuban capital Havana 2012 Biotechnology Congress to be attended by scientists from all continents. The event will be focused mainly on the application of this discipline in the field of medicine.

Latin America will be present with specialists from Argentina, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela and Cuba, as host. Attend European scientists from Russia, Germany, Luxembourg, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Spain, Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Portugal and Holland.

Researchers come from other parts of Bangladesh, South Africa, Viet Nam, Israel, Kenya, USA and Canada.

Therapeutic advances in cardiovascular disease, autoimmune, inflammation and Neuroregeneration are among the main topics.

A new feature, according to the website of the event, are the satellite symposia covering topics such as vaccines for dengue, glycomics and HIV and its therapies.

Delegates will learn also the latest biotechnology research developed in Cuba on pharmacogenomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, biological systems and design of new drugs.

The academic program also emphasizes a symposium on biology and cancer therapy, which focus the discussions on new targets for treatment of cancer and its discovery, immunotherapy with antibodies and vaccines as well as angiogenesis.

Biotechnology Havana 2012 and its medical applications has a biannual frequency. The above quotations brought together experts from some 30 countries. They also came to this capital of the scientific world personalities, including Awards Nobels in Medicine and Chemistry.
