Havana will host the Tenth International Workshop on Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development which experts from different countries will attend to discuss issues on renewable energy sources.

The municipality Guamá of the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba will host the event, which will be held from 23 to 27 April.

Cubasolar 2012 is sponsored by the association of the same name, whose work is devoted to environmental education and projects aimed at the gradual replacement of fossil fuels with renewable sources, particularly solar.

Subjects with high incidence today as the water supply and food sovereignty and its link with the center of discussions renewable sources told Prensa Latina Elisha Hawk, president of the organizing committee.

Education, culture and energy information and south-south cooperation is also included in the curriculum, and an interactive quiz from the Cuban experience.

Cuba will present the achievements in the use of biogas in all its forms and the installation of photovoltaic systems and hybrid type, which includes the use of various sources to generate electricity in water pumping systems, services, irrigation, among other applications.

The topics of the workshop and the work of the organization are identified with the declaration of the UN General Assembly to institute the 2012 International Year of Sustainable Energy for All.

This is a call to join the island and is a major reason for achieving a qualitative leap in the battle for environmental care, said Hawk.
