Rescue news tapes that are stored is a goal that has set the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC). The search for audiovisual techniques to achieve this goal is being conducted in cooperation with French experts.

Vice President of ICAIC, Pablo Pacheco, said currently seeking financial support to continue the renewal process and digitization of over six thousand films, which are part of the film heritage of the Institute.

Pacheco also recalled the work of the renowned composer Santiago Alvarez, founder of the Noticiero ICAIC Latinoamericano and director of many of their issues, who through these films showed the landmarks of history and everyday life in the country.

The films of these news outlets have been declared by the Memory of the World Organization of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
