Cuban Parliament president Ricardo Alarcon arrived in Mexico on Thursday heading the delegation from the island that will participate in the Sixth Regional Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba.

Along with Alarcon are Cuban Friendship Institute’s (ICAP) president, Kenia Serrano; the president of the Association of Journalists Tubal Paez; and the chairman of the Parliament’s Standing Commission on Economic Affairs, Osvaldo Martinez, Prensa Latina reported.

As part of the delegation Also members of the group are Argentinean guerrilla fighter Ernesto Che Guevara’s daughter Aleida Guevara, family members of state terrorism victims and of the Cuban Five.

Serrano said the sixth regional meeting of solidarity with Cuba takes place in Mexico as a confirmation of the historical support of Cuba and the Mexican government’s respect of the island’s sovereignty.

The opening of the event took place on Thursday at the Esperanza Iris Theater, in Mexico City, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the in-midair terrorist attempt against a Cuban airliner in which all 73 aboard were killed.(ACN)
