2011.09.27 - 09:26:24 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu / Havana, Cuba.-  The Panam Games will witness a high level Softball competition for women of the upcoming 16th Pan American Sports Games, to be held from October 14th through the 30th in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The competition will include the participation of eight national teams and will be held by the all against all system from October 17th through the 23rd during which there will be five tickets in dispute for the World Championship of this sports discipline that is set to take place next year in Canada from October 12th to July 23rd.

The softball competition in Guadalajara will include teams from Argentina, Puerto Rico, Canada, the United States, Venezuela, Mexico, Dominican Republic and the squad Cuba that will be competing with a team of which its age average is 24, 5 years old and the majority of its athletes took part in the previous world championship, held in Venezuela.

The Cuban female squad will make its debut against the Brazilian team at 2:30 pm (local time in Cuba), and there will be another match in October 18th against its similar from Puerto Rico at 2:30 pm and against the Canadian squad at 6:30 pm, which finished third in the last regional tournament, in that order.

Just a few hours after its match against Canada, the Cuban team will face off the other two high-level teams from the United States at 2:30pm, which finished first in the previous world championship, and Venezuela at 6:30 that concluded fifth in that same competition.

Moreover, the rest of the games of the Cuban team will be against its opponents from Mexico in October 20th at 8:00 pm and against the Dominican team in October 21st at 10:00 am.

Those teams finishing in the first and second spots of the qualifying round of the competition will be disputing matches one another in the final round. The same procedure will be carried out for those teams finishing in the third and fourth spots in the event.

Finally, the losing team of the first game will compete against the winning team of the second game and the wining team of their game will be playing the gold-medal match to define the first place of the Softball Pan American competition for women.
