HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 26 (acn) First Day of World Championship witnessed the victory of two Cuban boxers. The Cuban boxing squad opened its path through the Baku 2011 World Championship, underway in Azerbaijan, with two victories.

Mini Flyweight Yosvany Veitía defeated 21-11 the representative of Kazakhstan Birzhan Zhakypov, bronze medalist in the 2005 championship, while cruiserweight José Ángel Larduet finished his bout in the first round against Czech Lubos Velecky by RSC.

According to the official website of the event, Veitia, junior world bronze medalist, won the first round 6-3, tied the second 5-5, and closed the fight with a 10-3 score in the third.

Larduet didn’t give any chance to his less experienced adversary and started his way in this world championship with an easy victory.

Cuba will have another representative tomorrow, the flyweight Robeisis Ramirez, who will face Macedonian Munin Veli.
