By Ed Newman. Caracas, September 3 (RHC)-- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has warned that the opposition seeks to create favorable conditions for a foreign intervention, similar to what occurred in Libya. Speaking at the Miraflores Presidential Palace on Friday, the Bolivarian leader said that the opposition believes the case of Libya will be repeated and are "plotting for an invasion of Venezuela."

The president said that the attacks of the right wing on the Venezuelan Armed Forces are part of the campaign aimed at creating confusion in the country and trying to instill hatred and terror. Chavez warned that they are working toward
what the opposition is calling 'the Libyan model.'

Addressing the situation in Libya, the Venezuelan president promoted the creation of a peace commission to negotiate a solution to the crisis in the North African nation. Chavez pointed out that the Western powers are already meeting to divide up "the oil cake" and Libya's natural reserves among themselves.
