By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS. August 24, 2011. CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Wednesday that he may undergo another round of chemotherapy next week.

Chavez said he feels he is overcoming his illness. When he mentioned cancer, he described it in the past tense saying: "I had it."

The 57-year-old Venezuelan leader recently shaved his head after his hair began to fall out as a result of chemotherapy.

Chavez has undergone two rounds of chemotherapy in Cuba so far after having surgery in June that removed a tumor from his pelvic region. He has not said where exactly the tumor was located.

Describing his treatment, Chavez said: "All of that is preventive."

He did not say whether he expects to return to Cuba for the third phase of chemotherapy.
