Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has “never felt healthier” after returning from Cuba, where he underwent a second round of chemotherapy to treat his cancer. According to the Daily Telegraph, Chavez is unsure whether he will need a third round of treatment or a second round of radiation.

“I could stand here talking for five hours,” he boasted to journalists at the presidential palace, where he returned Saturday. “I’m doing very well. In fact, I’ve never been better.

“It’s not serious,” he said of his cancer. “I don’t have metastasis.”

Chavez added that he has been taking good care of himself since his cancer was diagnosed. He would not disclose what type of cancer he has, but told reporters a tumor was found in the pelvic region. He underwent surgery in Cuba in June to remove it.

Chavez will continue to improve and watch out for himself, he said.

“Everybody knows chemotherapy has a touch impact and for that reason, I must be very careful every day regarding an infection, a germ, a virus,” Chavez said.

The Venezuelan leader is certainly behaving like the healthy man he claims to be. Before he spoke to reporters, he took a meeting with Maria Emma Mejia, secretary-general of South America’s UNASUR organization, the Telegraph said.
