2011.07.02 - 11:53:46 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu. Havana, Cuba.- Representatives of the governments of Cuba and the Philippines cancelled on Friday in this capital a postage stamp allegorical to the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During the ceremony, held at the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Wilfredo de Leon, charge d’affaires of Philippines to Havana, highlighted the historic friendship that has united the two peoples, and said that the stamp will be part of his country’s documentary heritage.

Foreign Deputy Minister Ana Teresita Gonzalez pointed out that the bonds existing between Cuba and the Philippines have always been characterized by mutual respect and attachment to justice in the international arena.

She stressed that Cuba thanks the Philippines for its vote at the United Nations against the blockade imposed by Washington on the Caribbean island for more than 50 years now.

The Cuban official also expressed that mutual friendship is increasingly stronger and gave as an example the Philippine youngsters studying in different educational levels in Cuba.

Likewise, she referred to the importance of the constant support of solidarity movements of the Asian nation in favor of the release of Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino, Gerardo Hernandez and Fernando Gonzalez, unfairly incarcerated in the United States since 1998.

Also participating in the ceremony were representatives of the diplomatic corps, officials of the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Communications and Computer Science, among others.
