26 de Junio 2011. Havana, (ACN).- The Cuban Federation of Underwater Activities (FCAS) issued a call for a national submarine photography contest to take place by the end of this month for promoting love and care of nature and seabed.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, an official statement by FCAS notes that the Fourth National Submarine Photography Championship is scheduled from June 30 to July 3, in Playa el Coral, in the western province of Matanzas, about 100 kilometers east of Havana.

It adds that the contestants should use digital cameras as established in the guidelines of the event. The categories are: Fish, Environments with and without divers, Macro and Macro with themes.

The document affirms that winners will classify for an annual event on this specialty, in this case for FOTOSUB COLONY 2012, which will be held at the Hotel Colony in the special municipality of the Isle of Youth.

The first three winners will be given the opportunity to join the team that will represent Cuba in FOTOSUB 2012 and to participate in that event for free, plus other recognitions that will be presented to them during the awarding ceremony of the contest.

Cuba is boosting submarine photography as one of the practices in the tourist industry and for the protection of the environment.
