11:00, June 21, 2011. Cuba and Vietnam would enhance cooperation in military technology, according to agreements reached during Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister Nguyen Chi Vinh's visit to the island state.

A Vietnamese delegation headed by Nguyen arrived here Monday and also paid tribute to the Cuban independence hero Antonio Maceo at his mausoleum on the outskirts of Havana, the official NNTV televison reported.

Nguyen and his entourage are also scheduled for a formal meeting with senior officers of the Cuban army, a visit to the Cuban Military Academy, and a signing ceremony of the agreement on military technology exchange.

The Vietnamese delegation came on the heels of Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong, who visited the Caribbean nation last week.

Cuban official press said the two countries are working "intensively" to boost
their political and economic relations.
