HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 15 (acn) Chinese deputies heard in Havana from Cuban counterparts details about the process of discussions led by the Cuban people about the Guidelines for the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution, recently held in the island.

Du Quinglin, head of the delegation from the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference visiting Havana, lauded the discussion process describing it as a "great democratic effort of reflection and debate."

Jaime Crombet, vice president of the Cuban National Assembly of the People's Power (Parliament) told the Asian delegation that more than eight millions of Cubans participated in the process.

Crombet said the opinions of more than three million people were noted and taken into account for the final draft of the Guidelines which was presented by President Raul Castro in April- in the sessions of the 6th Congress of the
Cuban Communist Party (PCC).

The National Conference of the PCC scheduled for January 2012 will assess the work of the political organization, Crombet announced.

The parliamentary leader appreciated on behalf of the Cuban country- the Chinese government's help and cooperation with the island.

During a recent visit to Cuba by China's Vice President Xi Jinping, 13 new agreements were penned between the two countries.

Present in the meeting were among other officials, China's ambassador to Cuba Liu Yuquin, and Cuban parliament deputy Caridad Diego, who is in charge of religious affairs at the PCC's Central Committee.
