By: Heidy Morin Rueda. Mexico, Jun 11 (Prensa Latina) Mexico is third in sending patients to Cuba, a nation that provides its services internationally recognized in some 80 countries, said Dr. Obel García Santana.

In statements to a group of journalists, the general manager in Mexico of Medical Services (Servimed) of tourism and health in Cuba, said that for over 15 years, the organization promotes new and different alternatives offered by the island for the treatment of different diseases.

Among these options are neurological restoration, retinitis pigmentosa, vitiligo, psoriasis and rehabilitation for addicted patients, the latter is a treatment that provides a personal program, able of changing lifestyles.

For this, the Cuban medical adviser added that the island has three centers, while the statistics reflect a high level of effectiveness in treatments, because 50 percent of patients achieve rehabilitation, when the average of the most recognized clinics around the world is 12 percent.

Garcia Santana added that in the field of addictions, Mexico ranks first in terms of sending patients to Cuba, as well as people suffering from retinitis pigmentosa, an ophthalmology disease that if untreated can cause blindness.

Referring to vitiligo, a disease afflicting the two percent of the world's population, Servimed general manager said that Cuba has Melagenina, a medicine made from human placenta that has proven effective in curing 84 percent of the cases treated.

Dr. Garcia Santana also referred to personalized treatments that offers the island in the field of neurological restoration, particularly those related to diseases such as Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer and rehabilitation of children with static paralysis.
