HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 8.- After a successful three-day official visit to Cuba, Chinese VP Xi Jinping was seen off on Tuesday night at the Juan Gualberto Gomez airport of the western province of Matanzas by the Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.

Speaking to reporters, Jinping praised the excellent state of bilateral relations and the results of joint projects in the sectors of energy, telecommunications, transportation, and biotechnology.

During his visit on Tuesday to Varadero, in Matanzas, the Chinese high-ranking official expressed his satisfaction with the success of the joint work done at the exploratory well Camarioca 100, a project undertaken by Chinese group Great Wall with staff from the two countries.

According to Granma newspaper, the visitor said he was impressed with the progress of the works and hoped that all the bilateral projects of economic cooperation lead to new places, as an expression of the excellent state of the relations between Cuba and China.

The exploratory well, which has a horizontal measure of seven kilometers, is operated by the Cuban Oil Drilling and Exploitation Group of the Center (EPEP-C). During the visit, Xi Jinping exchanged views with Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdes Menendez, vice-president of the Councils of State and Ministers, in which both sides acknowledged the importance of the cooperation in this strategic industry.

During his stay in Cuba, Jinping held official talks with President Raul Castro and participated in the signing of more than ten bilateral agreements.

After Cuba, Xi Jinping continues a tour around Latin American countries that will also take him to Uruguay and Chile. (ACN)
