(Media-Newswire.com) - The Secretary General of the Organization of American States ( OAS ), José Miguel Insulza, arrived at noon today in the headquarters of the Government of Honduras to meet for the second time with President Porfirio Lobo and accompany him during the meeting with the Foreign Ministers of Colombia, María Ángela Holguín, and of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, on the occasion of the arrival of former President José Manuel Zelaya in Tegucigalpa.

Secretary General Insulza went to the Presidential House with Foreign Minister Holguín, who also came to the Honduran capital to act as a witness to what was agreed in Cartagena--the return of Zelaya to his country--with the Governments of the Presidents of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, and Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, as mediators.

The head of the hemispheric Organization said today that the arrival of President José Manuel Zelaya in Honduras, a year and eleven months after the coup d'etat that interrupted his constitutional mandate, is a milestone in the internal process of reconciliation of Hondurans.

He remarked on the efforts by President Lobo towards restoring democracy in his country, after the rupture caused by the destitution of former President Zelaya on June 28, 2009.

The OAS Secretary General said he was confident that this Wednesday, during the Special General Assembly of the OAS that will discuss the return of Honduras to the heart of the organization, the final step will be taken to end the period in which the Central American country was marginalized.
