2011.04.19 - 15:40:10 / radiorebelde.icrt.cu. HAVANA, CUBA.- The head of the Office of Institutional Communication of the Cuban Sugar Ministry (MINAZ), Liobel Perez, announced that the 2010-2011 sugar production plan has been met.

Perez noted that the achievement is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the proclamation of the socialist character of the Revolution and of the victory over the U.S.-backed mercenary invasion of Bay of Pigs in 1961, and to the Sixth Congress of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC).

He explained that sugar workers met the plan a month earlier than scheduled, with lower costs than expected and better industrial efficiency.

Perez pointed out that 11 sugar mills have already stopped their production after they jointly contributed 25,000 tons over the initial estimates; whereas other 13 sugar mills will continue producing until their workers finish their sugar-cane cutting plan.

Another 15 sugar mills are working to meet their production plans.

According to the same source, those of Majibacoa in Las Tunas, Hector Rodriguez in Villa Clara, and 30 de Noviembre in Artemisa, are close to their goals.

The provinces of Sancti Spiritus, Granma, Cienfuegos, Camagüey, Ciego de Avila, Villa Clara and Santiago de Cuba already met their production plans; while Artemisa, Holguin and Guantanamo will likely do it very soon.(ACN)
