12/26/2010. Cuban intellectuals express comprehension and optimism. Cuban intellectuals expressed in this eastern city comprehension and optimism regarding the Project of guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and Revolution, currently in the process of popular debate.

In an assembly of the committee of the Cuban Association of Writers and Artists (UNEAC, after its initials in Spanish) in the province of Granma, creators from different areas praised the recent speech by President Raul Castro.

Magda González, vice president of UNEAC, indicated that it is required to propose, fro the creators, different ways to continue developing the culture on rational basis, which means to support the best projects, no matter if people are members or not of the organization.

She remembered that writers and artists have the very important task of helping to show a realistic image of Cuba abroad.

Story teller Arsenio Rosales qualified the words of President Raul Castro during the last session of the National Assembly of Popular Power as very instructive.

He added he has no fear in the future of the country and qualified the dialogue established during the last weeks between the direction of UNEAC and Culture of Granma as harmonious, constructive and intelligent.

Rosales stated that, notwithstanding the financial limitations, in 2011 they will remember the shooting of Juan Clemente Zenea in the 140 anniversary of this crime, while during this same year will be the hundred years of the death of José Joaquín Palma, both poets and patriots.

During the meeting, the musician Augusto César Odio was elected president of the UNEAC committee in Granma, to substitute the theatre artist Juan González Fiffe, who is in a cultural mission in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
