Pinar del Rio, Cuba, Dec 20 (Prensa Latina) Cuban speleologist preserved rock art images in caves of this province with advanced computer techniques that allow visualizing faint traces inside the rocks. In the past two decades, these artistic demonstrations have been damaged, perhaps because of the rapid climate change, told Prensa Latina the president of the local caving committee Hilario Carmenate.

Decorrelation Stretch software for Image program, which uses as initial support digital images of rock art, allowed the speleologists to bring back to light the invisible fragments because of their degree of deterioration, he said.

The processing of the photos taken to the ancient artistic expressions with procedures to grade or calibrate the colors present in it, makes possible the appreciation of the original morphology of these works, which are part of the national heritage.

In addition to the freehand drawings and copies, the president stated they rely on the picture to perpetuate the legacy of the Aborigens and try to decipher their motivations and meanings.

In this area, where there are the Cuban largest cave systems, were found about 40 sites with the footsteps of indigenous and rebellious slaves in the form of artistic motifs.

Unfortunately in some places partial losses of the traces or symbols are seen, which were once visible to the naked eye, said the speleologist.sus/ycf/ap. Modificado el ( lunes, 20 de diciembre de 2010 )
