Xinhua. 18:16, December 15, 2010. Cuban Vice Foreign Minister Marcos Rodriguez Costa and Kiribati Foreign Minister Tessie Eria Lambourne signed an agreement Tuesday to boost bilateral cooperation.

Kiribati President Anote Tong and his delegation are officially visiting the Caribbean island country.

Another cooperation agreement was signed between both sides to increase exchanges in sports and applied sciences.

"We hope to achieve a greater relationship between our governments and people," Eria Lambourne said.

He said Cuba and his country had an excellent agreement on health care, and both countries intended to extend their ties to other areas.

President Anote Tong and his delegation arrived in Cuba on Saturday. Cuba and Kiribati established diplomatic relations in 2002. A Cuban medical brigade provides services to this nation in the Pacific Ocean, and 33 Kiribati youth are studying in Cuba.
