Silvio Rodriguez to hold his debut in the movies next to La Colmenita

The Cuban singer and composer Silvio Rodríguez will hold his debut in the movies, with a performance in a movie by the Cuban children theater company La Colmenita.
Rodríguez expressed that he will play a very modest, rather symbolic role in the movie, next to the group of little children, in which his young daughter also takes part, says the web site Cubadebate.
The movie version, based on a Russian play will be called Y sin embargo, se mueve and it will include his music, added the Cuban artist.
Rodríguez, who became 64 years old last November, also praised the album by Los Bunkers, a Chilean rock band living in Mexico, which includes versions of songs written by him such as Sueño con serpientes, El necio and Quién fuera, interpreted this week in a concert that lasted more than two hours.
The founder of Cuban Trova expressed his gratitude for this work, which he considered to be very beautiful, and remarked that these young people have much enthusiasm.
Rodríguez offered these declarations after his return from Spain, where he was present in the ceremony that granted the Tomás Luis de Victoria award to his friend Leo Brouwer, famous Cuban guitar player and composer.
He also received in Madrid, the surprise of the 2010 Arts Award, announced in Havana, from the Cultural Fund of the so called Alianza Bolivariana para los Pueblos de Nuestra América (ALBA in Spanish), an integration project created by Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro.
On this aspect, he revealed that the amount of the award, which is 75 thousand dollars, will be donated to the creation of a fund for the promotion of cultural actions in the Havana municipality of San Antonio de los Baños, his birth city.
