2010.12.01 - 09:40:38 / [email protected]. Nationwide Discussions of Draft Guidelines for the Economic and Social Policy Begin. HAVANA, CUBA.- Discussions of the Draft Guidelines for the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution began on Wednesday across the country as part of a process prior to the Sixth Congress of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), scheduled for April 2011.
The discussions take place in the neighbourhoods, schools, workplaces and other spaces with the participation of workers, students, intellectuals and every member of the Cuban society who express their opinions on the ongoing process to update the Cuban economic model.
The purpose of this process is to improve the situation of the Cuban economy which has been severely damaged, among other factors, by the current international financial and economic crisis, natural phenomena such as hurricanes and droughts, and Washington’s almost 50-year-old economic blockade.
The vice president of the Cuban Council of Ministers, Marino Murillo, recently said that the contribution of every person will be decisive in this process of discussion of the Draft Guidelines for the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution because all ideas will be valid to gradually solve the current problems.
