2010.11.30 - 13:46:03 / [email protected]. HAVANA, CUBA.- Geospatial Interoperability and the Web of the Future are some of the topics of the GEOMATICA 2011 Congress, which will take place within the context of the International Informatics Convention in the Cuban capital next year.

Havana’s Convention Center will host the event, which is scheduled for February 9-11. The director of the Faculty of Geoinformatics of the University of Münster in Germany, PhD. Werner Kuhn, will be the main speaker.

According to the website www.informaticahabana.cu, geospatial interoperability, Volunteer Geographical Information (VGI), semantic web services, web sensors and spatial data infrastructures, are among the topics to be discussed.

Spanish, Belgian, Canadian, Mexican, and French specialists in the field have already confirmed their attendance.

Other activities have been arranged on the occasion of the event: eleven international workshops on geomatics, and the workshop “Research on Spatial Data Infrastructures: Latin America and the Caribbean in the World”, scheduled for February 12 at the Jose Antonio Echeverria Higher Polytechnic Institute (ISPJAE) in Havana.
