Climate change and its consequences for Latin America and the Caribbean were the focus Wednesday of the Regional Seminar on Environment and Development.

Media coverage of this topic will also be discussed today, the last session of the three-day event at the Jose Marti Journalism Institute, sponsored by the UNESCO.

A book by Cuban authors "A mal tiempo, periodismo" (When Bad Things Happen, Journalism) was launched Tuesday. The book's six chapters, photos and attached documents reflect the mark made by hurricanes that have hit Cuba at different times in history.

It also highlights the role played by the media before, during and after the passing of a hurricane, and how work teams are organized in the newsrooms.

During the first day of the conference, renowned experts from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment analyzed issues such as sustainable land management, and the importance and use of hydraulic resources.

Professionals from Mexico, Panama, Argentina, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Chile, Paraguay, and Cuba are attending the event.
