More than $100 million in contracts has been signed at the 28th Havana International Trade Fair (FIHAV 2010), according to organizing committee president Abraham Maciques.

Letters of intent with various foreign suppliers were also signed, the executive said during the fair's awards ceremony, presided over by Cuban Vice President Ramiro Valdes.

The event was also attended by the vice presidents of the Cuban Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas, Jose Ramon Fernandez and Ulises Rosales; Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca; and the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Estrella Madrigal.

Some 3,595 exhibitors from 58 countries were participating in the fair, which ends Saturday, Macique said.

About 15 events and business meetings, included the 97th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce, and the Conference on the Monetary Council of the SUCRE, were also carried out during the fair.

Spain, Canada and China were the best-represented countries representation at the fair, Panama received this category at the Latin American level, and Italy and Brazil received recognitions.

Maciques stated that FIHAV 2010 is a moment for friendship, fraternity, and proving that the world can live in peace and harmony, mutual respect and confidence.
