Taipei - Record champions Cuba and the Netherlands will contest baseball's Intercontinental Cup final for the second time in a row after claiming semi-final victories on Saturday.

Cuba defeated Italy 5-3 and the Dutch stopped hosts Taiwan with the same 5-3 scoreline at the Tou Liu Stadium and the Taichung Continental Baseball Stadium, respectively.

On Sunday, Cuba and the Netherlands will fight for the trophy while Taiwan and Italy compete for third place in the 10-team event.

The Dutch team was excited that it will face again Cuba, the 10- time champions who beat them 6-3 for the last title in 2006.

"Cuba has a very strong team and has many top players. Many Cuban players play in in US Major League or in other countries' professional leagues. But we will try out best tomorrow," Dutch coach James Stoeckel was quoted as saying.

The Intercontinental Baseball Cup is organized by the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and held every four years.
