Vice Marshal Ri Yong Ho of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) started a five-day visit to Cuba Friday to strengthen bilateral military ties.

Ri visited the mausoleum holding the remains of Antonio Maceo and laid a wreath. Ri also toured a tank unit and other military facilities.

Ri is also scheduled to hold meetings with senior Cuban military officers and visit other military units and educational institutions, as well as some historical and cultural spots.

This is Ri's first visit to the island country.
