Cuba Suffers Second Loss at Women’s World Volleyball Championship Havana, Cuba.- The Cuban national women’s volleyball team lost to Germany in straight sets on Saturday during the second day of competitions of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Women’s World Championship that began on Friday and runs through November 14 in several Japanese cities.

According to the website of the event, the Caribbean squad fell in three sets 24-26, 17-25 and 23-25 playing in the city of Matsumoto.

The winners’ attack was led by Margareta Kozuch with 15 points while Corina Ssuschke and Maren Brinker contributed 12 and 10 units, respectively. The best Cuban scorers were Kenia Carcases with 17 points and Yoana Palacios with 18.

Also in Pool C on Saturday, Thailand beat Kazakhstan 3-1 and the United States downed Croatia 3-0.

In other results on Saturday, in Pool A, Japan defeated Peru 3-1, Serbia beat Poland also 3-1 and Costa Rica blanked Algeria 3-0.

In Pool B, Brazil edged the Czech Republic, Puerto Rico steamrolled Kenya 3-0 and Italy also edged Holland 3-2.

Finally, in Pool D, Russia defeated Turkey 3-1, South Korea blanked the Dominican Republic 3-0 and China did the same with Canada.
