By Elizabeth López Corzo. "Sombras Amarillas", Polito Ibañez’s latest album, is already on sale thanks to the Bis Music
record label. This is a production that, like others previously made by the author, features a well-done lyrical speech,
which confirmed him as a singer-songwriter.

Polito said that what he likes the most in making a CD is not the fame or the money, but feeling he will be part of Cuban culture the next 250 years. "This is an attempt more ambitious than any other."

Speaking to Cubasí, the author of “Somos Números” and “Doble Juego” talked about the new album and future projects:

What is Sombras Amarillas?

This album is a consolidation of what I've been as an artist. It has the category I give to my art city work, controversial
art by doing poetry with pop, rock and especially with the new trova, which is really in me. I consider myself a
singer-songwriter.

You recently said to Cubasi that this album was what you wanted to do at this time. Now that the product is in the market, what can you add?

It was imperative that I somehow showed that I was still an artist. I have still many concerns, things that I have not ever
said in a CD. I think this album has not such a “down” feeling often present in my songs, which can depress some people because they are too terrible given the fact that reality is terrible in itself. I think there are two or three songs here reflecting joy. I think the album can become a sign of motivation for people.

Would you say it is optimistic?

Perhaps it is not totally optimistic, but it is an attempt so people may feel happy.

You say something about a process of featuring...

Many people have come up to me, Baby Lores, Leoni, Osamu, even a young opera singer who wants to carry out a “weird” project. Beatriz Márquez also called me a while ago and I gave her a song. Isis Flores wants to do a song with me, David Torrens...Anyway, some of these things will be carried out, some others don´t. But I am in an interesting phase of collaborations.

And what about the album you want to do with 10 Spanish-language top songs?

It will be later because I have thought of 5 or 6 songs, but they are not enough. I think sometimes they are songs that, being so close to me and my time, are not the greatest songs as they all are. This is the case of "Eres nada" by Gerardo Alfonso who is my friend. I think that's a song so great that he doesn´t even knows it and I am afraid I can perform this song and the public cannot appreciate its greatness. When people have that CD, I want them to say: "it's true; he chose the 10 songs possible."
