HAVANA, CUBA.- Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, First Vice-president of the Cuban councils of State and Ministers, met on Wednesday with Alexander Dmitrievich Zhukov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and president of that nation’s Olympic Committee, who is now on an official visit to Cuba.

During the meeting, the two leaders highlighted the excellent state of bilateral relations, an expression of the historic bonds of friendship uniting the two peoples and governments, the Cuban National Television Newscast reported.

Likewise, they verified the positive development of cooperation between the two countries and highlighted existing potentials to expand these bonds.

Accompanying the visitor were Mijail Kamynin, ambassador of the Russian Federation to Havana, and Alexander E. Barannikov, deputy chief of the Secretariat of the Russian Olympic Committee, while, for Cuba, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and other officials of the Foreign Ministry were also present in the meeting.
