Cuban youth archers won four gold medals and a bronze in the Continental Qualification Tournament in Mexico, and the women team qualified for the Pan American Games to be held in Guadalajara in 2011.

According to Jit website, Cubans participated in the recurve bow event. Youngsters Hugo Franco and Orquidea Quesada were the gold medalists in that discipline.

Franco got three gold medals with 293 points in the 90 meters event and 318 in the 70 meters.

The Cuban women's team finished in fourth place among 10 and got their ticket for the Guadalajara Pan American Games.

Larissa Pagan and Maydenia Sarduy were also part of the team. They accumulated 1,869 points in the 70 and 60 meters events, but they improved their records in the distances of 50 and 30 meters and recorded a new national mark with 3,814 points.

The U.S.A, Canada, Mexico and Colombia got their tickets to the Pan American Games, too, and the remaining two teams will emerge from the winners of the matches Argentina vs. Chile and Puerto Rico vs. Brazil in the Olympic Round.

The Cuban men's team included Juan Carlos Stevens and Jaime Quintana, who did not get medals individually but contributed to the team to get the fourth place by country.

However their qualification will be decided in the Olympic Round. They have to defeat Chile, 13th in FITA (International Archery Federation) ranking.
