The Organizing Committee of the Iberian-American Culture Festival confirmed the assistance of a dozen artistic delegations to this event, which will take place in the north-eastern city of Holguin from October 24 to 30.

Tatiana Zuñiga, president of this committee, told AIN that to the date their presence has been confirmed by artists and creators from Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Costa Rica, Haiti, Canada, Spain and Portugal.

She highlighted that on this occasion the cultural thinking and solidarity encounter which first took place in 1992, will be celebrating the two hundredth anniversary of the independence of several Latin American countries and the 50th anniversary of the Instituto Cubano de Amistad con los Pueblos (Cuban Institute for Friendship with the People).

She explained that the main activity of the event will be the 6th Thinking Congress, from October 25 to 27, which will debate themes such as Bio-ethics, Cuban History, Regional thinking and culture.

Among the personalities from the Cuban part, there will be PhD. Eduardo Torres Cuevas, director of the José Martí National Library, María del Carmen Barcia, Áurea Matilde Fernández and Sergio Guerra Villaboyd.

The digital page of the Holguín Iberian-American House –the main stage of the festival- published that the artistic segment includes a concert by the well known Argentinean musician Osvaldo Montes, the Chilean troubadour Tomás González and the Costa Rican singer Amanda Rodríguez.

Yanet Ronda, director from the Art Center commented that the perspective of the visual arts will be made better with more than 20 exhibitions among which stand out a sample from the National Fine Arts Museum and a retrospective for the two hundredth anniversary of the French painter Federico Mialhe.

The Iberian-American Culture Festival, which takes place every year in this city, also known as the Park City, includes in its program the Letter Colloquium, audio-visual exhibitions, literary conferences and concerts in plazas and on the streets.

As it is usual, the closing of the event will take place on October 28 in Cayo Bariay, in the coastal zone of the province, the place where Admiral Cristopher Columbus disembarked in Cuba on the same date and month but in the year 1492.
