HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 18 (acn) Cuba and China will increase bilateral cultural exchange thanks to an agreement signed on Sunday in Beijing by the ministers of Culture of the two countries, Abel Prieto and Cai Wu.

The signing of the accord took place minutes before Prieto and Wu held official talks, also with the presence of the Cuban ambassador in China, Carlos Miguel Pereira.

Aiming at the strengthening friendship bonds, both ministries will coordinate initiatives in the fields of cinema, theater, heritage, circus, and others,during the 2011-2013 period.

They will promote the presence of institutions in fairs, festivals and other events organized in the two nations. They will also support cooperation between centers for artistic research, including those having to do with the restoration and preservation of national heritage.

The Cuban Culture Minsiter’s agenda in China includes meetings with other authorities of the Chinese Government, the State and the Chinese Communist Party.

This visit takes place only a few days after Cuba and China celebrated the 50th
anniversary of bilateral relations.
