Sábado, 16 de octubre de 2010., 12:02Mexico, Oct 16 (Prensa Latina) A forum named "Fidel Castro in Mexico and his struggle for peace", took place in Lamm House in this capital, with the participation of well known academics who spoke about those events of more than 50 years ago.

The lecturers in the forum were: academics Luis Javier Garrido and John Saxe-Fernandez from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, former deputy Enrique Herrera and Cuban Ambassador to Mexico Manuel Aguilera.

Saxe-Fernadez spoke about the Leader of the Cuban Revolution's warnings expressed in his reflections about the global threat caused by the depletion of natural resources and the dangers humanity is facing regarding a possible nuclear war.

Herrera remembered episodes of the period of Fidel Castro's exile in Mexico. He read fragments of a speech of Fidel on October 10, 1955 in the monument honoring the Child Heroes of Chapultepec.

Garrido as well as Herrera, referring to the links of the leader of the Cuban Revolution in this country, agreed that there have been no circumstantial incidents in the last 50 years, able to break the ties between Mexico and Cuba.

They recalled the large demonstrations that have taken place here in important moments in the history of Cuba, such as the Bay of Pigs invasion, when General Lazaro Cardenas announced his willingness to defend the Revolution before 100 thousand Mexicans at the Zocalo.

The Cuban Ambassador narrated several deeds that testify to the enduring strength of the relations of those sister nations, from the passage thorough Mexico of personalities like José Martí, José Maria Heredia and Pedro Santacilia, the Cuban son-in-law of Benito Juárez.

Aguilera also talked about the multiple times the Leader of the Cuban Revolution has referred to his close friendship with Mexico and his gratitude for the continuing solidarity of its people with Cuba.sus/as/yrc/fa. Modificado el ( sábado, 16 de octubre de 2010 )
