17 de Octubre 2010. Santiago de Cuba, (AIN).- An album which includes musical manifestations of popular traditional Cuban culture, was recorded by the band Voces del Milagro, from this city, in the Siboney Studios from the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (Musical Edition and Recording Company) (EGREM in Spanish).

Sponsored by the Caribbean House, an institution dedicated to socio-cultural research, the album with 19 themes is part of the project dedicated to the rescue of the autochthonous musical sounds of the region, with a ceremonial character.

The new production brings together songs and prayers from crossed spirits beliefs, a Cuban variation of that practice which brings together different forms of popular religiosity.

Orlando Vergés, director of the Caribbean House, told AIN that we are talking about a valuable repertoire from an anthropological perspective, because it perpetuates the interpretation of expressions that are no longer used.

Tiburón Morales, a well known son singer and leading voice of the band Son 14 is a guest.

Voces del Milagro was founded in 2004 in the El Cobre town and they maintain their repertoire from the transmission of an oral tradition.

The Caribbean House and EGREM kept with this recording the registry of valuable examples of popular musical culture, which started by the albums performed by the bands Thompson and Barrancas.
