Over 170 Catholic and evangelic leaders in Brazil have signed a manifesto declaring their support for the presidential candidate of the ruling Workers'' Party (PT), Dilma Rousseff.

The manifesto, "Manifesto of Catholic and Evangelical Christians for Life and Life in Abundance!" was published in Carta Mayor, with the religious leaders affirming that they reject the use of religion to condemn any candidature.

The document dismisses Internet rumors on Rousseff's alleged intention to legalize abortion when she takes office, something would have prevented her from winning the first round of elections on October 3.

Regarding that, the religious leaders sustain the PT candidate denied those rumors, and held a positive, open dialogue with them. However, the stories and lies continue.

"In line with our commitment with the Brazilian people, we publicly declare our vote in favor of Dilma Rousseff, and the reasons for it," the text reads.
