Radio Cadena Agramonte - October 13. Havana, Cuba, Oct 13.- Yemen’s Higher Education Minister, Saleh Ali Basora, acknowledged Cuba’s cooperation for 35 years in the training of almost 5,000 health professionals at the University of Aden.

While speaking during a meeting to mark the 40th anniversary of the foundation of that center for higher studies, the minister gave a certificate to Cuban ambassador to Yemen, Buenaventura Reyes, in recognition of services rendered by the Cuban professionals.

Cuban diplomatic sources cited by Prensa Latina news agency pointed out that the contribution of professors and physicians from the island in the training of some 4,900 physicians, dentists and pharmacists was highlighted during the ceremony, held at the University of Aden.

In addition to the commemorative shield and the certificate given to Reyes, the Yemen minister also honored Havana’s Higher Institute of Medical Sciences, on behalf of which Jose Ramon Molina received the medal.

This professor was also awarded as a founder of Aden’s Faculty of Medicine,along with another four professors and three Cuban academic authorities who contributed to the creation of that institution.

Traveling to Yemen was Dr. Barbara Garcia, at the special invitation of the Faculty of Stomatology, which valued her contribution to the development of that specialty in the Arab nation, where some 25 Cuban professionals are currently working.(ACN)
