Cuba's foreign minister calls on PM Lee

Posted: 12 October 2010 2054 hrs. SINGAPORE: The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cuba Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla called on Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Tuesday afternoon, at the Istana.

Mr Rodriguez briefed Mr Lee on developments in Cuba, including the economic reforms that Cuba is undertaking.

Mr Rodriguez said he also hoped both countries could enhance bilateral cooperation.

Mr Lee, who visited Cuba in November last year, thanked Mr Rodriguez for the hospitality shown to the Singapore delegation.

Mr Lee wished Cuba well and hoped there would be more opportunities for both countries to cooperate in future.

Mr Rodriguez also called on Singapore Foreign Minister George Yeo.

The two foreign ministers had a wide-ranging discussion on regional and international developments.

Mr Rodriguez's official two-day visit ends Wednesday.-CNA/wk
