Ex-chief of Colombian intelligence service (DAS) confirmed the infiltration of the embassies of Venezuela, Cuba and the Middle East. The CIA was an actor in the plan.

South Journal, Bogota The ex-chief of the Gone organization with Colombia's Security Administrative Department (DAS, intelligence), German Albeiro Ospina admitted before the Colombian justice that since his organization was created they infiltrated the embassies of Cuba, Venezuela and Middle East countries to spy on opposition senators, such as Piedad Cordoba and Gustavo Petro.

I'm referring to surveillance, tracking and infiltration of the embassies of these countries where we could find information related to senator Piedad Cordoba and her links to the Venezuelan government, said the former intelligence officer.

Albeiro Ospina admitted that the operative was set up since the creation of the Gone group in 2005. He said that the orders for infiltration actions were forwarded by Captain Jorbe Alberto Lagos, DAS exvice director, from doctor Maria del Pilar Hurtado, DAS ex-director. The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) played its role in this, said Ospina.

Last August 27, Captain Lagos was condemned to eight years in prison for espionage against opposition members, journalists, lawyers with the Supreme Court and human rights activists; he became the first man to be sentenced for telephone tapping and espionage.

In our meetings, along with the presentation of the investigations about Venezuela, Cuba and the Middle East, we were ordered other missions related to top government issues which were of national interest, while they had to do with these countries and certain people involved,he said.

The ex-intelligence officer revealed that the information gathered about Senator Piedad Cordoba was not only submitted to the executive, but also to the High Commissioner for Peace. And DAS Carlos Orjuela added that this information was also sent to the Ministers of Defense, Foreign Affairs and high ranking military officials, according to Telesur TV channel.

In several occasions, Caracas denounced that it was being the target of espionage by the DAS, but this organization rejected the accusations. In October 2009, Venezuelan Interior Minister Tarek El Aissami denounced that the Colombian regime was orchestrating a huge espionage operation against his country through the DAS; the action also included other Latin American nations.

Addressing Venezuela´s National Assembly (Parliament) the Interior Minister confirmed that three men had been arrested and accused of espionage actions in the western part of the country. The men were two Colombians and one Venezuelan.

El Aissami said that the information was released after the leak of DAS classified documents by officials working with this organization. He said that Colombian official Monica Xiomara Cardoso Espinoza, who worked for the DAS, was the main suspect of the leak of information, so she was summoned to testify about the plans which, the latest Colombian regime was orchestrating against Latin American countries such as Cuba, Venezuela and Ecuador.

The Venezuelan Interior Minister mentioned several operatives that the DAS was carrying out with the support of other countries of the region, such as the Falcon Plan (Venezuela), the Salomon Plan (Ecuador) and the Fenix Plan (Cuba).

These plans were being financed by the former Alvaro Uribe regime, the US embassy in Colombia and the CIA, said DAS former official Carlos Orjuela.

Last April, a Colombian detective, member of that country's intelligence services, reportedly said that former Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos (current Colombian President) knew about the espionage actions in Bogota against diplomats from Venezuela and Cuba. The detective made his statements during an interview on the TV Show, on Channel One.

The official said that he had received death threats against him and his family,so he decided to appear hooded during the TV interview. The detective said that the DAS, with the authorization of former President Uribe, set up a group to spy on and track foreign diplomats, as well as infiltrate the embassies of Venezuela, Ecuador and Cuba, and other countries with the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our Americas, the regional integration bloc know by its acronyms ALBA.
